Mechanism and Engineering Characteristics of Expansive Soil Reinforced by Industrial Solid Waste: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Expansive soils exhibit detrimental swelling and shrinking characteristics in response to variations water content, posing a threat engineering safety. Utilizing industrial solid waste for improving the properties of expansive soil presents promising solution due its low pollution high recoverability. This paper reviews progress research on various wastes stabilizing soil. The review comprehensively discusses microscopic mechanism waste-stabilized soils, as well their impact compressive strength, shear, compaction characteristics, consistency, shrinkage properties, durability soils. addition appropriate curing agents or combination with other materials can enhance strength soil, mitigate volume changes, improve stability mechanisms stabilization by involve cation exchange, flocculation-agglomeration, pozzolanic reaction, carbonation. Additionally, characterization analysis reveals that formation C-S-H C-A-H is primary contributor improvement geotechnical properties.

Effects of Industrial Effluent on Soil Characteristics: A Review
There is a gradual decline in soil fertility due to its continue use in farming. This necessitates developing new strategies of management programs to recharge soil with nutrients. From review it has been found that reuse of industrial effluents (wastewater) in agriculture can be a good mode to conserve soil nutrients. It may offer a way to fulfill irrigation water demands also. The major chall...
متن کاملassessing geo-mechanical and micro-structural performance of modified expansive clayey soil by silica fume as industrial waste
expansive soils may cause disaster if not adequately taken care of. lime continues to be commonly used for modification of these types of soils although it may have limited success in some applications. thus, the present study was performed to address the viability of using silica fume (sf) as industrial waste to modify the behavior of expansive soils. this achieves the double objectives of ove...
متن کاملA laboratory Study on Reinforced Expansive Soil with Granular Pile Anchors
Granular Pile Anchor (GPA) considers one of the solution foundation techniques, designed to mitigate the lifting of the sole resulting from expansive soils. This study work is to investigate the uplift movement response of (GPA) in expansive soil. The laboratory tests have been performed on an experimental. The effects of several parameters, such as length (L) of (GPA) and diameter (D), the thi...
متن کاملInfluence of Soil-industrial Effluents Interaction on Subgrade Strength of an Expansive Soil-a Comparative Study
The rapid growth in population and industrialization cause generation of large quantities of effluents. The bulk effluents generated from industrial activities are discharged either treated or untreated over the soil leading to changes in soil properties causing improvement or degradation of engineering behaviour of soil. If there is an improvement in engineering behaviour of soil, there is a v...
متن کاملGas exchange and foliage characteristics of two poplar clones grown in soil amended with industrial waste.
Plants can remove or immobilize various environmental contaminants; however, little is known about the physiological mechanisms underlying responses to soil amendment with biosolids contaminated with heavy metals. We investigated the responses of cuttings of hybrid poplar clones Eridano and I-214 grown for a season in soil amended with nutrient-rich organic material from tanneries, which contai...
